Description:
This unit includes a total of 7 Labor and Delivery beds.
There are 4 triage beds and 2 overflow beds available.
The Postpartum area has 27 beds, including a 5-bed nursery.
The unit averages about 3 births per day, totaling approximately 1545 per year.
Nurses are required to have certifications in ACLS, BLS, NRP, and advanced fetal monitoring.
The unit follows established guidelines for staffing ratios.
The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner.
The nursing staff has support from OB techs for various tasks, including delivering supplies and assisting during patient intakes.
A weekend requirement consists of 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
There is an optional call requirement; candidates who are willing to take call are preferred.
Holidays will be worked in collaboration with permanent staff, usually involving one major and one minor holiday.
Scrub colors are navy.
There are 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM and 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
C-section experience is required, with an emphasis on circulating rather than scrubbing.
Nurses in Labor and Delivery may float to Postpartum, and Postpartum nurses may float to Labor and Delivery.
Labor and Delivery nurses must have experience in Postpartum.
Candidate care will include high-risk deliveries, any gestational age, patient drop-offs, and instances of substance abuse.
Communication may involve Spanish-speaking patients.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience, along with at least one prior travel contract.
The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
