Description
St. John Paul the Great Parish seeks a faith-filled and skilled Cantor to lead and encourage the sung prayer of the assembly during liturgical celebrations. The Cantor serves as a liturgical minister whose primary role is to proclaim the Responsorial Psalm, lead congregational singing, and assist the parish in fostering reverent, prayerful, and active participation in the Church's worship. The parish worships at both St. Francis Church and St. Peter Church and celebrates multiple weekend and special liturgies throughout the year.
Requirements
  • Strong singing voice with good vocal technique and clear diction.
  • Ability to lead congregational singing confidently and prayerfully.
  • Ability to read music and learn new repertoire efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy and liturgical music traditions.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred, or a candidate who demonstrates respect for and commitment to the teachings and worship practices of the Catholic Church.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct.
  • Previous cantor or choral experience preferred.
