Job description

The Senior Financial Analyst - Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for driving financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management for the Information Technology function across SSA Marine / Carrix. This role serves as the primary finance business partner to IT leadership, providing deep financial insights, spend analytics, and variance reporting to support strategic technology investment decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong FP&A fundamentals with an understanding of IT cost structures, including infrastructure, software, headcount, and emerging areas such as AI spend, and can translate complex financial data into clear, actionable guidance for non-finance stakeholders.

  • Support the annual IT budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles, partnering with IT leadership and business unit finance teams to ensure alignment with company-wide financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain IT financial models, including departmental expense tracking, capex vs. opex classification, headcount and contractor cost planning, and project-level budget management.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly variance analysis for IT spend, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities with actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain YTD IT spending visibility across business units, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to IT and Finance leadership.
  • Drive IT spend analytics frameworks, including tracking AI-related expenditures, evaluating appropriate units of measure (e.g., token usage), and assessing new account structures in financial systems (e.g., IFS).
  • Support IT vendor and contract management, including PO/invoice oversight, project code utilization, and supplier-level spend reconciliation.
  • Support IT project portfolio management, tracking budget-to-actual by project, identifying variances, and escalating issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate expense booking, proper accruals, and headcount/payroll alignment to actual department formation.
  • Prepare and present executive-level financial reviews, communicating financial implications clearly to non-finance audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • An MBA or professional certification (CPA, CFA) is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant FP&A, finance business partnering, or IT finance experience.
  • Experience in IT finance, technology cost management, or finance business partnering within a technology or operationally complex organization is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; experience with IT cost structures (infrastructure, SaaS, headcount, projects) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query); experience with Power BI or other BI tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP and financial management systems (e.g., IFS, Hyperion, SAP, or similar); experience with semantic models or data layers is a plus.
  • GAAP knowledge and understanding of capital vs. operating expense treatment for technology investments.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including IT and operations leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across IT, Finance, and business unit teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a track record of improving financial processes through technology and automation.
  • Experience with PO and invoice processing workflows and project code management is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Required hybrid work schedule, at least 3 days/week in office.
  • Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.

Pay Range: $115,000 - 120,000 per year
