Job description

Storage Engineer GES is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to support large-scale migration and operations on a large, high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA's internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations. The Sr. Storage Engineer will be responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Responsibilities will include management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to Identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure, updating and supporting systems by tuning performance and allocating storage space. Primary Responsibilities โ€ข Plan and prepare for disaster recovery, storage capacity, and provide performance analysis. โ€ข Ensure a high level of storage availability and reliability of storage infrastructure. โ€ข Monitor storage capacity and performance, and provision storage for use. โ€ข Troubleshoot storage system performance and capacity issues. โ€ข Support multiple storage and database technologies, โ€ข Provide senior level engineering design support to provide enterprise- level data exchange solutions using physical and virtual server hosting, off-site data replication and service level storage solutions. โ€ข Evaluates, designs, documents, installs, implements, tests, and performs problem isolation and resolution; and monitors, tunes, sets standards and maintains a range of compute, networking, and storage systems. โ€ข Performs these functions across physical media, Operating Systems, File Systems, protocol stacks & network components. โ€ข Uses monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems; gauge performance and activity. โ€ข Devises solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. โ€ข Develop and execute contingency plans for compute host system, storage, and network related software/hardware failures including isolated and major outages. โ€ข Update system and process documentation as needed. Required Qualifications โ€ข Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or Master's degree with 10+ years of experience (additional years of experiencing and/or certification will be considered in lieu of degree) โ€ข Active DoD Top Secret Clearance โ€ข Advanced knowledge and experience with VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and/or Red Hat Virtualization (Design, Build, Operate), especially vSAN configurations. โ€ข Cloud storages solutions, such as Azure Blob and Amazon S3. โ€ข Understanding of Backup/Recovery systems such as Veeam and/or Commvault โ€ข Extensive prior experience migrating/consolidating SAN/NAS โ€ข Must currently possess a Secret with ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance in the future. โ€ข Cisco and Brocade Fibre Channel switches; FCoE Desired Qualifications โ€ข Past or current ISSM/ISSO experience Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
