Job description

RK&K is currently hiring a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer to work in our Richmond, Virginia office. This Senior Project Engineer should have experience with some or all of the following areas to support municipal and transportation project designs: Stormwater Management conveyance and BMP designs, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Floodplain/Scour Modeling, and Watershed Studies for various exciting projects throughout Virginia and surrounding States.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, evaluate and design stormwater management facilities to support municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across RK&K's vast portfolio
  • Design and produce engineering drawings for culverts, channels, storm sewers; and related
  • 1D and 2D Floodplain modeling using programs such as HEC-RAS and PCSWMM
  • Attend and present project status updates at client meetings; Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
  • Meet and work directly with other design team members including project managers, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
  • Develop civil engineering plans using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
  • Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verifying surveys as needed
  • Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
  • Lead tasks, plan budgets, manage subcontractors

Required Skills and Experience

  • B.S. in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar field
  • 8 + years of experience in water resources engineering
  • Registered P.E. in the state of Virginia or the ability to apply for reciprocity
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience
  • HEC-RAS and/or PCSWMM experience preferred
  • Candidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Pondpack or HydroCAD
  • Ensoftec (pipesoft, inletsoft, Ditchsoft)
