Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage (BESS)

📍 Locations: Arlington, VA | Houston, TX | Alpharetta, GA

📅 Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)

🏢 Hybrid Schedule: 4 Days In Office / 1 Day Remote



We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This opportunity offers the chance to join a rapidly growing renewable energy organization focused on grid modernization, energy storage, and clean energy infrastructure.


The Project Engineer will work closely with engineering, project execution, and cross-functional teams to help deliver complex energy projects from development through execution. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in renewable energy, power delivery, substation engineering, or utility infrastructure who are looking to grow within the energy storage sector.


Responsibilities

• Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution activities

• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, vendors, and engineering stakeholders to gather project requirements and support project delivery

• Perform technical evaluations, feasibility studies, design reviews, and engineering analyses

• Prepare and review engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and project reports

• Track project progress, identify potential risks, and support issue resolution efforts

• Support project milestone management and deliverable coordination

• Provide technical support during construction, installation, commissioning, and project execution activities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule


Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)

• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

• 5+ years of engineering experience within energy, power delivery, renewables, utilities, or related infrastructure projects

• Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy, BESS, solar, wind, substations, transmission, distribution, or power systems projects

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and project teams

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment

• Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop within emerging energy technologies
