Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The Sr. Project Engineer (ME) performs design and analysis work that involves conventional engineering practice, which requires independently evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. The Sr. Project Engineer (ME) possesses a broad engineering knowledge thorough experience in all areas of design. This position also acts as a technical mentor to other engineers, interacts with clients on a consultative basis, and may generate additional client business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans & performs engineering duties as assigned.
  • Uses 3D CAD software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
  • Becomes proficient in necessary software packages to support a variety of client work.
  • Builds models and prototypes of the product tests the design, makes comparisons with similar designs, and produces specifications for products.
  • Selects raw materials and components to be used in production.
  • Optimizes time management skills and maintains billability to influence positive client results.
  • Recognizes new project opportunities such as project extension and changes in scope.
  • Assists in mentoring and developing Project Engineers.
  • Maintains and develops client relationships.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-7 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools.
  • Experience with independent evaluation and application of standard engineering techniques, including mechanics, materials science, and thermodynamics.
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of projects with various levels of difficulty.
  • Ability to use judgment to make minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, mechanical, technical, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
