This role is ideal for an advanced engineering professional capable of leading complex OS modernization efforts, configuration management migrations, and infrastructure hardening initiatives, while also executing hands-on runbooks, automation, incident response, and service onboarding. The successful candidate will work closely with SRE, platform engineering, application development teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial planning through final delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering, production engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python.
  • Experience leading or supporting OS modernization and large-scale Linux migrations, including RHEL7 to EL8/EL9.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, CINC, Ansible, Puppet, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to triage, own, and resolve complex production issues and S-bugs.
  • Experience hardening CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, rollout processes, and rollback mechanisms for infrastructure transitions.
  • Ability to provide Tier-2 production support and incident response in a follow-the-sun operating model.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and configuring RPM packages.
  • Experience executing operational runbooks for OS upgrades, configuration changes, and production support.

  • Experience with Chronosphere, Prometheus, Grafana, and/or Splunk.
  • Experience enabling, supporting, and guiding developers during cloud cutovers and component migrations.
  • Experience with cloud migration, application modernization, or infrastructure modernization efforts.
  • Perl scripting experience.
  • Prior experience in SRE, platform engineering, production engineering, or large-scale infrastructure modernization.

Scope and Solution Expectations:
The contractor will be responsible for supporting the technical transition of legacy systems to modern environments. Key deliverables and operational tasks include:

  • Migrating and updating configurations across approximately 1,700 systems and virtual machines from RHEL7 to EL8/EL9.
