Supplier Quality Control Engineer

Role Overview
The Supplier Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring Mitsubishi Power equipment and services meet quality, regulatory, and customer requirements through the application of QA/QC principles. This role supports supplier quality management, manufacturing oversight, inspection execution, and compliance for power generation equipment including turbines, HRSGs, pressure vessels, and supporting mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply QA/QC principles to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company quality standards.
  • Support the Mitsubishi Power Quality Management System (QMS) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop project quality inspection budgets and monitor adherence.
  • Participate in supplier qualification and cross-functional audits.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections at supplier facilities for structural, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective action processes through closure and effectiveness verification.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Review technical procurement specifications to define and extract quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards including ASME, ASTM, and welding codes.
  • Develop quality specifications for mechanical and structural systems.
  • Review supplier procedures for compliance with codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with Global Sourcing to monitor supplier performance and procurement quality.
  • Prepare and distribute inspection reports and quality documentation.
  • Review inspection and test plans to ensure proper hold and witness points are included.
  • Collect and review supplier quality records and maintain document control system entries.
  • Support vendor interface activities aligned with project execution and division of responsibility requirements.
  • Travel domestically and internationally (up to ~70%) to support audits and inspections.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or power generation industries.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and perform inspection activities.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection equipment and quality processes.
  • Knowledge of welding technologies and codes (ASME, ASTM, CWB, etc.).
  • Experience with supplier audits, inspections, and quality systems.
  • Professional certifications such as CWI, CQE, or NDT preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical documentation systems.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
