DESCRIPTION:


The Senior Advisor, People & Culture Programs provides support to the administration and oversight to coordination of key programs related to Pension, Benefits, Disability Management, HRIS systems and data governance analytics in support of departmental service delivery. ย This position holds a key role in liaising with external vendors and aligning programs across People & Culture. ย 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • People & Culture Program Administration Pension
  • Support pension plan administration of FortisAlberta pension programs to process
  • enrollments, life events, leaves of absence, and retirement or other related employee lifecycle event management.
  • Ensure plan administration follows required legislative processes, internal policy and plan text guidelines.
  • Answer employee inquiries regarding plan rules, and options.
  • Work alongside payroll teams to verify accurate deductions and premium payments.
  • Laise with external vendors and pension consultants.ย 

People & Culture Program Administration Benefits

  • Support benefits plan administration of FortisAlberta to process enrollments, life events, leaves of absence and other related employee lifecycle event management.
  • Ensure plan administration follows required legislative processes, internal policy and plan text guidelines.
  • Work alongside payroll teams to verify accurate deductions and premium payments.
  • Laise with external carrier and benefits plan consultants.ย 


People & Culture Program Administration Disability Management ย 

  • Coordinating initial claim activation support for both occupational and non-occupational health-related absences, ensuring plan compliance on onboarding to adjudication process with external providers.ย 

SAP - Employee Central Implementation & HRIS Governance and Workforce Analytics:

  • Providing subject matter expertise in supporting core HRIS program administration and data management and entry within the People & Culture function.
  • Support HRIS reporting, data and analytics management within the People & Culture function for monthly, quarterly, ad hoc and initiative-based information requirements.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in supporting the implementation and upgrade to SAP Employee Central initiative. ย 
  • This role is critical in supporting enterprise transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives related to core HRIS program administration and data and analytics within the People & Culture function.
  • Act as project lead to ensure HRIS programs are executed in an efficient manner and may include tasks such as providing direction, assigning tasks, identifying employee training requirements, providing input process improvements to other members of the HRIS team
  • Develop and maintain HRIS governance standards, processes, and controls to ensure data quality, compliance, security, and operational effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide subject matter expertise on complex enterprise-wide projects involving multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS architecture, data governance, integrations, reporting tools, and business process design.
  • Strong analytical and business intelligence capabilities, including dashboard development and workforce analytics.
  • Proven experience influencing decision-making and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage organizational change and support technology adoption initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, process improvement practices, and systems implementation lifecycles.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with operational execution.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, or other related discipline plus a minimum of 10-15 years of relevant human resources experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in leading enterprise HRIS implementations, upgrades, or major system enhancements.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be an assetย
