Job description

Duties As an INSPECTIONS SPECIALIST (Superintendent), GS-1801-12, you will: This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing Inspector General (IG) Office. The Inspector General (IG) Superintendent oversees various complex IG activities, develops policy, and advises the Wing IG on effectively implementing The Inspection System, to include the Commanders' Inspection Programs (CCIP), as well as the Complaints Resolution, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) Programs. Work products impact a wide range of agency activities. Requirements Conditions of employment * National Guard Membership is required. * Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. * Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. * May be required to successfully complete a two- year trial period. * Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. * Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. * incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment * Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment. * Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer. * This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. * This position requires a secret security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a secret clearance. * Work may require access to higher classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: 8I000. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. MSgt to SMSgt are eligible to apply. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; knowledge of applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures; skill in interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening; ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects; skill in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws; ability to enunciate without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit effective communications; ability to write reports and presentation formats; and ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : 1-year specialized experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. * Knowledge to overcome obstacles to gather and interpret evidence; ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings. * Skill in conduct inspections and investigations where significant difficulties are encountered. * Skill to select, adapt, and apply investigation and negotiation techniques; interpret complex laws and regulations. * Skill in obtaining and/or reconstructing missing documents and information.
