SQL Server Database Administrator (Production)
Client: SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation)
Location: Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid)
Duration: 2-Year Contract (Concluding June 2028)

Job Summary
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and communicative SQL Server Database Administrator for a long-term contract engagement with SMBC. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Production DBA environments, with a specialized focus on Always On Encryption and SQL Server version migrations. Exceptional communication skills are strictly required for this role, as the DBA will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

This role is heavily focused on Production Database Administration, high-availability architectures, and critical version migrations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and deep technical expertise in SQL Server environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary Production DBA, ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of mission-critical SQL Server environments.
Lead and execute complex database migrations, specifically upgrading from SQL Server 2019 to SQL Server 2022 (and SQL Server 2025).
Implement, configure, and maintain Always On Availability Groups and Always On Encryption.
Monitor database health, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and optimize queries and stored procedures.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional technical teams, stakeholders, and management, translating complex database concepts into clear, actionable updates.

Required Qualifications:
Extensive, hands-on experience as a Production SQL Server DBA in enterprise-level environments.
Proven track record of executing SQL Server version migrations/migrations (specifically 2019 to 2022).
Advanced expertise in configuring and managing Always On Availability Groups and Always On Encryption.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate technical strategies clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to reliably commute to the Jersey City, NJ office 1 2 days per week (candidates residing 1 2 hours away are welcome to apply, provided they can meet this onsite requirement).

Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with or knowledge of SQL Server 2025 migration strategies and features.
