SQL Developer (Troy, MI)
Job Summary
The SQL Developer should have extensive experience with T-SQL using Microsoft SQL Server both on-premises and in Azure. The Developer will have responsibilities for developing, maintaining, and enhancing all aspects of our SQL Database used by an in-house software application. This includes modifications to tables, views, stored procedures, functions, jobs, etc. Ancillary work on SSRS Reports and SSIS Packages may also be required. Must have experience with cloud platforms and modern software design patterns. Exposure to .NET, Java, React, AngularJS, and other modern technologies is a plus. The SQL Developer must be able to participate in multiple phases of the software development lifecycle with active participation in creation of technical specifications, development, functional testing, and maintenance. Must also have an eagerness to learn new technologies and practices.

Essential Functions, Duties, Responsibilities
  • Active participant and leader within the SDLC lifecycle; this role will participate in sprint planning activities, daily standups, prioritization meetings, code reviews amp; retrospectives, and should be well versed in development operations, and relevant processes and procedures including source control practices and production of documentation.
  • Perform day-to-day operations (includes maintenance, problem investigation and resolution, database optimization and tuning, etc.).
  • Evaluate business requirements and recommend appropriate solutions to achieve stated objectives.
  • Independently analyze and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution through collaboration with cross-functional team members.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues and document changes.
  • Develop and execute unit test cases and functional test cases for database use.
  • Establish best practices for a growing team of SQL Developers.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrate initiative, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Drive results amp; leverage past experiences to improve the environment and related processes.
  • Follow current guidelines as established at the company-wide and department levels and provide input for modernizing existing standards.
  • Serve as mentor to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with peers, team members, and stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate job duties, resources and personnel.
  • Ability to adjust priorities, listen receptively to ideas and problems.
  • Ability to reach acceptable compromise and to maintain strict confidentiality.

Qualifications
  • Requires 5 years of recent experience in writing software solutions with the latest Microsoft technologies
  • Proven Microsoft T-SQL skills
  • Must have proper understanding of web and application security
  • Experience developing software in Azure
  • Ability to troubleshoot existing application issues
  • Experience enhancing/upgrading existing systems by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement
  • Experience with industry-standard build and deployment processes within a structure change management process
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research into security related products as required
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience with modern software development tools and systems including, but not limited to, SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, Azure Data Studio, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Ivanti
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies including Scrum, Kan Ban, and SAFe
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Work Schedule - Full time. Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30 pm. Permanent Remote position (No in-office days).

Pay - The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $110,000 per year. Actual salary is dependent on skills, experience, education, and other business factors.
