Job Description
Our Durant, OK client is seeking an IBM Cognos Analytics Developer with strong experience in both core platform capabilities and its AI-driven features. This individual will serve as a hands-on expert to guide development efforts, provide best-practice recommendations, and help our team better leverage Cognos-especially its AI and augmented analytics capabilities.
The ideal candidate will also bring experience with predictive analytics using IBM SPSS, to help extend Cognos beyond traditional reporting into more advanced, forward-looking insights.
This is not a formal leadership role but requires a highly experienced practitioner who can influence direction through expertise, introduce innovative approaches, and accelerate delivery. Our client is looking for:
  • A true Cognos expert who can jump in and add value quickly
  • Someone comfortable working hands-on while also guiding decisions through expertise
  • A practitioner who can unlock AI and predictive capabilities, not just build standard reports

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on development support for dashboards, reports, and data modules
  • Advise on best practices for leveraging Cognos Analytics, including AI/augmented features (AI Assistant, forecasting, insights)
  • Apply predictive analytics techniques using Cognos and SPSS to deliver forward-looking insights
  • Assist with integration of SPSS outputs/models into Cognos reporting and dashboards
  • Assist with configuration, administration, and optimization of the Cognos platform (12.x)
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to refine requirements and deliver effective solutions
  • Identify opportunities to utilize AI and predictive capabilities to enhance reporting, automation, and decision-making
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and improve performance of existing reports and data models
  • Support and guide internal team members through knowledge sharing and practical coaching

Job Requirements
  • Strong expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics 12.x, including report authoring, dashboards, and data modules
  • Hands-on experience with Cognos AI/augmented analytics features (AI Assistant, natural language queries, forecasting, automated insights)
  • Experience with predictive analytics and familiarity with IBM SPSS Modeler and/or Modeler Server
  • Experience integrating predictive outputs into business intelligence/reporting workflows
  • Experience with platform configuration, administration, and security (user and data-level)
  • Proven ability to optimize performance of reports and data models
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to think creatively and recommend non-traditional solutions within Cognos
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience building or operationalizing predictive models using SPSS and surfacing results in Cognos PREFERRED
  • Experience enabling self-service analytics and training end users PREFERRED
  • Familiarity with underlying data architecture and integration with data warehouses PREFERRED
