Job Summary
The successful candidates will primarily work Sunday (2:00¿6:00 PM), Monday (6:00¿10:00 PM), and Wednesday (6:00¿10:00 PM) while classes are in session each semester. This non-benefits eligible part'time librarian will average approximately 12 hours per week and will not exceed 19.5 hours. The schedule may be adjusted based on departmental needs; therefore, flexibility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the information desk during scheduled hours, providing comprehensive support to students, faculty, and staff by assisting with information retrieval, research inquiries, circulation of library technology, basic computer support, study room policy compliance, copier and printing services, and general campus directions.
- Perform collection development and liaison activities.
- Familiarity with Springshare modules including LibGuides, LibChat, and LibCal. Includes updating and working with LibGuide information as needed.
- Provide general supervision and foundational training to student employees, as applicable, during shared shifts
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Library Science (MLS, MIS, or MLIS) or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited university or international equivalent.
- Exhibit strong broad-based knowledge of print and electronic information sources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Springshare products (e.g., LibCal, LibGuides, LibChat)
- Familiarity with a library management system and discovery service (e.g. Alma/Primo)
- Experience with troubleshooting basic computer or printing issues
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience in teaching, training, and supporting users in academic environments.
- Demonstrate strong service ethics including the ability to effectively work with faculty, staff, students and library personnel at all levels.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be self-directed, well organized, able to set priorities, and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds.
