Job description

         Lays out, constructs, and repairs a variety of most complex plaster patterns, master models, mock-ups, checking, fixtures, form blocks, or other plaster tooling from templates, engineering and loft information and master tooling where trim lines, guidelines and reference points are required.

         Supplies any details, which may be lacking or incomplete on blueprints, loft data or engineering information.

         Coordinates and works with engineers, loftsmen or other personnel; recommends changes and incorporate changes.

         Determines the methods to be used in making the pattern and the number and kinds of templates needed, taking into consideration shrink equivalents, the design of the tool, the stages and spring-back, etc.

         Determines the method of sand molding and devises means for its accomplishment by split pattern, moldboard, core box of ram-up core.

         May make templates.

         May instruct, direct, and coordinate the work of several other employees.

         May be required to perform a variety of plastic tooling operations closely allied to plaster pattern-making operations.

Tools & Equipment Used:

         Band saws, circular saws, grinders, scrapers, scale, dividers, protractors, templates, soldering irons, transits, vernier height gages and other precision instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements:

         Five (5) years plaster modeling or plaster pattern-making experience.
