NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Gregory Mott, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
COLLEGE COMPUTER TECHNICIAN INTERN
POUGHKEEPSIE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
QUALIFICATIONS & CONDITIONS:
- Students must have awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and network troubleshooting. Student must possess strong verbal and communication skills. Must be punctual and maintain good attendance.
- Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, should have the ability to research and understand technical resources.
- Be able to interact effectively with faculty/staff, students and parents. Must work independently and/or as part of a team.
- Must be enrolled and remain enrolled as a college student, maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA - Any changes in college status including course/majors/status must be reported immediately in writing to the Director of Technology. Interns will submit their days/hours available several weeks prior to each semester and the Director of Technology will create/approve the work schedule. The district reserves the right to alter the schedule based upon need with 24 hour notice but not to interfere with the intern's classroom hours. - Intern(s) must provide a class schedule by the beginning of each semester and an official transcript (grades) immediately following the completion of each semester. Failure to provide these documents in a timely manner can result in a terminiation of the internship. - Intern's job performance will be reviewed each semester and/or as needed.
DUTIES:
The Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD) is committed to providing students and parents with pathways to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. - The intern(s) will be responsible for the duties which include managing Chromebook / PC repairs and keeping up-to-date records of all inventory and technical issues reported. Intern(s) will be responsible for communicating updates to faculty/staff, students and parents as needed. - Monitoring help desk support requests; providing end user support throughout the District, in addition, intern(s) may assist with software support and support of other systems and related work as required.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
