Summer/Fall Accounting Intern
LOCATION: Story City, IA
SUMMARY: The Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting the team in all areas - accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, and special projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable, which could include:
  • Managed shared email box
  • Process and enter vendor invoices for payment
  • Send ACH remittances to suppliers
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable, which could include:
  • Managed shared email box
  • Prepare cash receipts detail for posting to customer accounts
  • Prepare invoices and credit memos for customers
  • Special projects as schedule allows - examples include utility usage analysis, sales tax analysis, annual audit procedures, and assisting with ERP system implementation tasks

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Working toward an Associate/Bachelor's degree (A. A./B.S.). Accounting experience preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
