About Warner Bros. Discovery:

Every great story has a new beginning, and yours starts here. Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery... the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are...

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is a global leader in media, sports, and entertainment, delivering one of the world's most diverse and compelling portfolios of content, brands, and franchises.

At the forefront of innovation, WBD's Sports Organization operates at the intersection of technology, sports, and entertainment. We leverage advanced engineering to create immersive, interactive viewing experiences that engage sports audiences worldwide. Our platform offers real-time sports news, exclusive streaming content, personalization, and subscriptions-showcasing premier events like March Madness, the French Open, and the UEFA Champions League.

Committed to excellence, we deliver seamless, high-quality experiences across web, mobile apps, and consoles, tailored to passionate sports fans and entertainment seekers alike. As a pure-play sports tech leader, we are integral to WBD's growth, building world-class products for iconic brands like Bleacher Report, TNT Sports, and Eurosport.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished and visionary engineering leader to lead Bleacher Report Sports at WBD, shaping the future of sports technology in a dynamic and rapidly evolving digital landscape. As an engineering and strategic leader, you will oversee complex, cross-functional engineering teams, driving clarity, alignment, and accountability across our global technology platform. Your balanced understanding of business and technology will guide the organization toward innovative solutions, while your hands-on leadership ensures a best-in-class product experience for millions of sports fans. You will set and achieve ambitious strategic goals, inspire and motivate high-performing teams, and foster an environment focused on continuous improvement, exceptional delivery, and operational excellence.

Role Expectations

Lead and manage the Bleacher Report Sports experience across Web, iOS, Android, and platform services, driving seamless performance and continuous innovation. Cultivate a culture of strong engineering ownership while building and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders to align organizational goals. Provide hands-on, player-coach leadership-guiding design, architecture, engineering planning, feature delivery, and operational excellence-while developing and growing a high-performing team of leaders, managers, and individual contributors to support the global platform's scaling needs. Champion operational excellence by defining key metrics, establishing alerting and incident management processes that ensure system resilience and adaptability. Implement rigorous quality assurance, load testing, and performance monitoring to maintain high reliability of apps, services, and infrastructure. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Content/Marketing, and Digital Platform teams to prioritize and deliver impactful architecture and feature initiatives. Drive a world-class customer experience by continuously improving functionality, usability, and simplicity.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 8 years in leadership roles, with proven success in leading senior engineering managers and individual contributors across global teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge and architectural expertise in Web, Mobile Apps, and Services.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-performance solutions while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including influencing without authority, driving change, demonstrating empathy, developing leaders, improving processes, and aligning cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities to engage with seniormost executives, internal teams, and external stakeholders with professionalism and discretion.
  • Passion for sports, technology, and the evolving landscape of digital fan engagement is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

How We Get Things Done...

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
