Job description

Position: Sporting Intern
Department: Stadium Operations
Reporting Relationship: Reports to: Director of Event Operations - Sporting
Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Position Summary
The Sporting Intern will support Stadium and Event Operations for Tepper Sports & Entertainment, with a primary focus on Charlotte FC (MLS) matches and events and Carolina Panthers (NFL) games and events. This role provides hands-on experience in professional sports facility operations, event execution, and game day logistics across two major sports properties within a large-scale NFL/MLS stadium environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn the behind-the-scenes operations required to deliver world-class events and fan experience.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist Sporting team with event preparation for Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC games
  • At the direction of the Director of Event Operations, assist Sporting team with gameday tasks to include:
    • Gameday activations logistics (load in/out)
    • Labor checklist creation and coordination
    • Contribution to operations notes and event prep documentation
    • Support stadium readiness efforts including field-level areas, locker rooms, concourses, premium spaces, suites, club areas, and back-of-house spaces
  • Assist with venue conversions between MLS, NFL, and non-sporting events
  • Support access control, credentialing distribution, and operational signage placement
  • Serve as on-site operational support during matches, games, and special events
  • Work with each department for specific needs related to Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC games/events
  • Assist with keeping storage areas organized
  • Special projects as assigned by the Director of Event Operations - Sporting

Facility & Stadium Operations
  • Participate in daily stadium walkthroughs and readiness checks
  • Assist with field usage coordination, event setups, and space turnovers
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Security, Engineering, Grounds, Housekeeping, Guest Services, and Broadcast Operations
  • Assist with vendor and partner access during event preparations

Planning & Administrative Support
  • Assist with event operations documents, run-of-show timelines, and checklists
  • Support post-event recap reports and operational debriefs
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned
  • Attend planning meetings and observe cross-functional coordination efforts

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Event operation experience in a stadium or arena facility
  • Familiarity with large-scale sports venues or live events
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • Works well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be a team player, reliable, and dependable
  • Must be detail-oriented and must be able to multi-task while managing time successfully
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends and all Stadium events, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays when necessary
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must pass pre-employment screens

  • This job operates mostly in an outside environment and in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions
