Position OverviewThe Sports Retail Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations at Layton Sports Cards. This role is customer-facing and hands-on, assisting guests with buying, selling, and trading sports cards and collectibles, maintaining store organization, and supporting product flow and events. The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about sports and collectibles.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Sales
Greet customers and provide a welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional experience
Assist customers with purchasing sports cards, sealed products, supplies, and accessories
Support buying, selling, and trading interactions under management guidance
Answer basic product and hobby-related questions or escalate as needed
Support high-volume sales periods, product releases, and promotions
Product & Store Support
Stock shelves, organize displays, and maintain visual presentation standards
Assist with restocking, product intake, and basic inventory organization
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and back-of-house areas
Handle products carefully, including high-value cards and sealed items
Operations & Team Support
Process POS transactions accurately (cash, credit, debit)
Follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards
Assist with store events, live breaks, or special initiatives as assigned
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired:
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Willingness to learn about sports cards, products, and store systems
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25โ30 lbs
Weekend and evening availability required
Must pass a background check
Preferred:
Retail or customer service experience
Familiarity with sports, trading cards, or collectibles
Experience using POS systems
Work Environment & ScheduleRetail sports card store with high customer interaction
Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and major release days
