Job description

Summary:

The Head Coach is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating all aspects ofa particular sport. Planning, managing, and evaluating the sports program will requirethe assistant coach to: teach, train, condition, and coach all team members in gamestrategies and techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the program in teaching theoretical skills such as sport psychology and preparation,demonstrating and teaching advanced skills for a particular sport, mentoring and advisingstudents on personal health and academic matters, organizing and coaching the juniorvarsity program with the assistance of the assistant coach.
  • Lead the program in the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes.Evaluate prospect pool through attendance at high school or sport organization contests.Scout opponents and organize scouting reports. Maintain accurate and complete recruitingrecords and ensure student-athletes are in compliance with the by-laws of Trine University,the conference, and the NCAA.
  • Lead the program in the promotion of the sport program on campus and in the community.Lead in fundraising activities, camps, and clinics for the sport and for the entireathletic department.
  • Manage and facilitate the recording of sport games/matches. Lead the program in thetransportation of student-athletes to and from contests.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is desired; Master’s degreeis preferred; a proven record of success in intercollegiate athletics including recruitingand Division III experience desired.
