About this role

As a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician at Intermountain Health, you will join a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing exceptional patient care and an outstanding patient experience. Our integrated Sports Medicine program utilizes state of the art techniques, advanced procedures, and innovative therapies to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care across the full continuum of treatment.

This position offers a rare opportunity to combine NCAA Division I team physician responsibilities, orthopedic practice integration, community sports medicine leadership, and program building within a highly supportive health system.

This is a unique opportunity to transition into the role of Head Team Physician for Southern Utah University Athletics while building and leading a regional sports medicine program in one of the fastest growing areas of the Mountain West. Working in close collaboration with Southern Utah Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, you will care for athletes and active individuals of all ages while helping shape the future of sports medicine across Southern Utah.

We anticipate you will treat predominantly adolescent and adult patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, sports related concussions, overuse injuries, and sports performance concerns. Clinical practice includes diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound guided procedures, orthopedic biologics (PRP), and advanced non operative sports medicine care.

In this role you can anticipate

  • Serving as Head Team Physician for Southern Utah University Athletics, an NCAA Division I program competing in the Big Sky Conference

  • Providing sports medicine leadership and medical coverage for Southern Utah University Athletics, local high schools, and community sporting events

  • Building and leading a highly visible regional sports medicine program with significant opportunities for growth, innovation, and community engagement

  • Integrating closely with Southern Utah Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, a growing orthopedic practice consisting of subspecialty orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, and dedicated support staff

  • Collaborating extensively with athletic trainers embedded within Southern Utah University and local high schools, as well as physical therapists throughout the Intermountain Health system and the surrounding community

  • Working alongside orthopedic sports surgeons to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care with strong collaboration and referral relationships

  • Developing relationships with coaches, athletic trainers, schools, community organizations, and referring providers throughout Southern Utah

  • Performing advanced injection techniques, platelet rich plasma (PRP), nerve blocks, diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound guided procedures, and other sports medicine interventions

  • Participating in outreach, education, and program development initiatives throughout the region

  • Practicing in a rapidly growing market with substantial opportunities for leadership and long term career development

  • Receiving a signing bonus of $15,000 and relocation assistance up to $20,000 (if applicable)
