Dragon Way; our unique development methodology, sets us apart by focusing on athlete growth and development, from college scholarships to professional sports careers.
Role Overview:

Reporting to the Founder, the General Manager - Sports, will serve as the strategic and operational leader of the Dragons Elite Athletics organization. This role requires deep experience in business development strategy and execution, financial management, and high-performance culture building. Experience in sports management preferable. The General Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding our reach, and upholding the integrity of the Dragon Way in every aspect of the organization.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing the strategic direction of the Dragons Elite Athletics organization and optimizing the utilization and economic models for its sports, teams, and development programs.
  • Collaborating with the Black Dragon leadership to successfully scale and identify opportunities for Dragon's Elite Athletics organization.
  • Manage corporate functions with support from the One Dragon Services team.

This position requires a dynamic, business development-oriented, strategic leader who will ensure the successful management and delivery of multiple sports programs (such as, but not limited to, baseball, soccer, volleyball, etc.), team acquisition and development, all while building for scale.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Management:
  • Execute the organization’s long-term strategic vision in alignment with the business development goals.
  • Guide and mentor the leadership team, including training staff and business development professionals.
  • Work with the founder and the executive team to develop and implement plans for identifying new business opportunities and expansion into new markets, both domestically and internationally.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to meet revenue and expense goals.
  • Ensure all sports programs meet or exceed industry standards in safety, quality, and athlete outcomes.
  • Drive membership acquisition and growth, and retention through innovative programming and marketing strategies.

Business Development & Growth:
  • Identify and pursue new revenue streams, partnerships, sponsorships, and expansion opportunities.
  • Develop and refine business models for growth, ensuring scalability while maintaining a high standard of training and player development.
  • Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and fundraising to support business expansion.
  • Coordinate and manage legal and HR teams on staff and team agreements, athlete billing and collections of fees, company insurance, and any such related matters.
  • Ensure all operations comply with local regulations, national athletic standards, and safety protocols.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as investors, parents, sponsors, community organizations, and governing bodies.
  • Represent the Dragons Elite Athletics organization at industry events, conferences, and media appearances.

Qualifications Required:

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Proven experience in business development, revenue generation, and brand building.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in developing, leading, and scaling multi-layered B2C (Business to Consumer) businesses. Experience working with sports, fitness, or athletic development organizations a plus.
  • Experience in scaling a business. A track record of success in managing multi-location operations and large teams is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage key stakeholders, from parents and athletes to investors and media.
  • Strong understanding of youth athlete development, collegiate recruiting, and professional sports pathways is a plus.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Sports Management, or similar. (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Leadership certifications from recognized bodies a plus.
