Interns work with sports organizations, teams, or agencies to learn about areas such as event planning, marketing, operations, and athlete management. This role helps individuals apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, build professional networks, and develop skills essential for a career in sports management. Internships can be paid or unpaid and often serve as a stepping stone to full-time employment in the field.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a sports management internship?

As a Sports Management Intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects that may include assisting with event planning and execution, coordinating logistics for teams or tournaments, supporting marketing campaigns, and helping with administrative tasks such as scheduling and communications. Interns often work closely with full-time staff in departments like operations, marketing, and community outreach, providing an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a professional network. The fast-paced environment can be challenging, but it offers a comprehensive understanding of how sports organizations function behind the scenes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sports management intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sports Management Intern, you need a foundation in sports administration or a related field, often supported by ongoing coursework or a relevant degree. Job description

INSPYR Sports & Entertainment is hiring 2โ€“3 Sales & Event Partnerships Interns for Fall 2026.

Applications due September 14, 2026.

This is a hands-on internship with real sales responsibility and real events โ€” not a semester of watching from the sidelines. You'll report directly to our Founder & CEO, help sell sponsorships for events happening across the country, and get exposure to how a growing national sports and entertainment agency actually operates.

Quick facts

  • 2โ€“3 positions available
  • Remote, with a weekly team Zoom call
  • Some nationwide travel to on-site events (approved expenses covered)
  • Reports directly to Carley Sanfilippo, Founder & CEO
  • Unpaid, structured for university/college internship credit
  • Opportunity to continue into Spring and/or Summer 2027

About INSPYR Sports & Entertainment

INSPYR Sports & Entertainment is a rapidly growing sports and entertainment agency specializing in athlete-driven events, experiences, partnerships and philanthropy.

We produce and manage events across the country, including charity golf outings, celebrity softball games, Topgolf events, galas, WAGs events and experiences, youth sports camps, wellness events, community initiatives and other custom experiences.

INSPYR is currently producing events and experiences in 15+ markets nationwideโ€”and rapidly growing.

What you'll work on

  • Selling sponsorship and partnership opportunities for upcoming events
  • Researching and identifying prospective brands, businesses and decision-makers
  • Conducting outreach through email, phone and other channels
  • Building and maintaining organized prospect lists and sales pipelines
  • Following up with prospective partners
  • Assisting with sponsorship proposals, decks and customized partnership ideas
  • Supporting sponsor activation and fulfillment
  • Assisting with event planning, coordination and logistics
  • Helping manage vendors, gifting, registration, signage, timelines and other event details
  • Supporting select events on-site
  • Assisting with marketing, social media and graphic design projects
  • Creating or updating presentations, proposals and partnership materials
  • Completing research and other special projects
  • Taking on additional responsibilities based on current events and company needs

No previous sales experience is required โ€” INSPYR provides training, prospecting tools and ongoing support. Sales is one of the most transferable skills you can build, and it applies across sports, marketing, events, business and entrepreneurship.

Events Youโ€™ll Gain Experience With

Charity Golf Outings โ€ข Celebrity Softball Games โ€ข Topgolf Events โ€ข Galas โ€ข WAGs Events and Experiences โ€ข Youth Sports Camps โ€ข Wellness Events โ€ข Community and Philanthropic Events โ€ข Sponsor Activations โ€ข VIP Experiences โ€ข And More

Every event is different, giving interns experience across multiple markets, event formats and areas of the sports industry.

Travel and On-Site Experience

The internship is primarily remote, but interns may be asked to travel and work on-site at select INSPYR events. For approved internship travel, INSPYR will cover required travel expenses associated with the trip.

These opportunities allow interns to move beyond the computer and experience event execution firsthand, including setup, sponsor activations, guest experience, event operations and breakdown. Some events may take place during evenings or weekends.

Internship Team and Mentorship

All interns will report directly to Carley Sanfilippo, Founder and CEO of INSPYR Sports & Entertainment.

This gives interns the opportunity to learn firsthand from the person leading the company, developing its partnerships and overseeing events across the country. Interns will work directly with Carley on sales, sponsorships, event planning, partnerships and other company initiatives.

Our internship team meets weekly via Zoom to discuss current events, sales opportunities, priorities, progress and upcoming projects. Outside of these meetings and select on-site events, the internship is remote. New interns will join our existing team of three interns, creating an active and collaborative environment while still receiving direct access to company leadership.

Who we're looking for

  • Interested in sports, sales, sponsorships, events, marketing or entrepreneurship
  • Comfortable communicating with new peopleโ€”or excited to develop that confidence
  • Willing to pick up the phone, send the email and make the ask
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a remote environment
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple projects
  • Creative and willing to contribute new ideas
  • Dependable and able to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may change
  • Excited to learn and willing to take ownership of their work

Best fit for students studying Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Sales, Communications, PR, Event Management, Hospitality or related fields โ€” but all majors are welcome to apply.
