The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Sports Camp Counselor is responsible for providing for the social, emotional and educational needs of each camper and the group as a whole during the camp season.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, Sports Camp Counselors are responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising a variety of sports activities for campers of various ages in a Sports Camp setting, as well as providing the care and supervision of the campers.
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in staff training prior to the beginning of the camp program.
  • Supervision of campers at all times.
  • Supervise health, safety and activities of campers.
  • Follow weekly schedule of events and special activities.
  • Teach/assist in all areas.
  • Take initiative to analyze and solve problems.
  • Supervise and participate with campers in all daily activities.
  • Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Athletics.
  • Assist in the set-up and clean-up of all activities and lunch area.

Requirements
  • Completed one year of College or College Degree (preferred).
  • Sports and/or leadership experience.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with children.
  • Good character and integrity.
  • Positive physical and mental health.
  • The desire to work with children in a sports camp setting.
