Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Youth Development, the Association Director of Summer Day Camp and Youth Sports is responsible for program quality, delivery, fidelity, growth, innovation and capacity building for our Youth Development programs including Track Out Camp, Summer Day Camp and Youth Sports programs. In addition, the Association Directoris responsible forcoordinating the YMCA of the Triangle'sFamiliesOn! Challenge, as well as developing the business plan for early childhood programming and coordinating association efforts serving children with diverse abilities. The positionis responsible formanaging these programs and their functionsin accordance withthe stated mission, purpose, goals, and policiesestablishedby the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Triangle.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides visionary leadership. Plans and directs, in conjunction with related and key youth development staff, Track Out Camp, Summer Day Camp and Youth Sports programs ensuring that these programs are managed so that they both fulfill the needs of the community as well as meet YMCA program standards and fulfill the objectives, Mission and Purpose of the YMCA.
  • Inspires, trains, leads, directs, supports,educatesand coaches the association program directors who support the assigned programs - modeling relational engagement, healthy conflict, and ensuring quality program delivery.
  • Works with branch leadership and youth development teams to ensure program quality and fidelity, consistency and accountabilitytodata collection and reporting.
  • Responsible for developing resources and materials in support of YMCA Youth Development programs and Youth Sports.
  • Responsible for championing new program ideas, supporting curriculum implementation, piloting new summer program deliverymodelsand accessing capacity to scale across our association.
  • In collaboration with branch leadership, supports the onboarding, coaching and development of Youth Directors and Youth Sports Directors.
  • In partnership with VP of Youth Development, develops a business plan for early childhood programming.
  • Provides vision, leadership,directionand support to Track Out Camp, Summer DayCampand all Youth Sports programs.
  • Responsible for the leadership and implementation of theFamiliesOn! Challenge.
  • Responsible for coordinating our association's programs and offerings for children with diverse abilities in alignment with our strategic plan.
  • Modelsrelationship-building skills and collaboration in all interactions.
  • Develops andmaintainscollaborative, strategic, and tactical working relationships with local school districts, school systems and local school administrators/educators and community organizations to deliver YMCA programs.
  • Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication withinareaof responsibility.
  • Develops and implements systems and processes to ensure all required data iscollectedand coordinates reporting on program impact and communicates to all stakeholders.
  • Serves as a role model for parents, volunteers, children,teensand other staff members.
  • Collaborates with Vice President of Youth Development on the creation of an annual budgetin accordance withthe budgetary guidelines of the association and manages that budget effectively.
  • Facilitates communication for families through management of emails, updating programwebsitesand other social media networks.
  • Ensuresall documentation/certificates/licenses/inspections/certifications/rental agreements are current and organized.
  • Some travel will be necessary, including overnight forspecial eventsandtrainings.
  • Supports various other Youth Development Department programs as needed and able.
  • Completion of all required annualtrainingsrelated to safety, compliance, and child protection as assigned.
  • Performs other duties not specifically outlined in this job description as the demands of the association might require.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+yearsprogressive leadership and program development experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to building community and fostering meaningful relationships throughmission-drivenwork andcross-departmentcollaboration.
  • Experience supporting organizational initiatives and staff development within ateam-based,service-orientedenvironment.
  • Ability to coordinate projects, workflows, and schedules effectively in a dynamic setting.
  • Strong communicationskills, including written, verbal, and public-facing interactions.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Builds inclusive, mission-driven relationships with youth, families, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skillspreferred, butnotrequired.
