Job Description

The Production/Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility. The role involves supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies, and managing projects that include system design, integration, and commissioning. This position requires a combination of maintenance and project management/system engineering skills. The support needs span seven days a week, with certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and associated computer systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on studio and control room equipment.
  • Assist Studio Operations with technical setup in control rooms and studios.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions that meet production initiatives.
  • Install and update equipment and systems software.
  • Repair and troubleshoot equipment to the module level using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Manage projects, design systems, and assist with system integration and commissioning.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Final candidates may be asked to complete a job-related skills assessment related to this position.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networks.
  • Knowledge of digital TV (HDSDI).
  • Proficiency in software-driven broadcast video equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under the pressures of live television.
  • Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems.
  • Understanding of the urgent needs of on-air sports and the ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to support a 24x7 production environment.
