Position Summary: The Assistant Tennis Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the tennis program, including athlete development, tournament preparation, training implementation, recruiting support, administrative responsibilities, and fostering a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment. This role helps ensure the program aligns with organizational standards, student-athlete well-being, and competitive excellence while supporting the holistic development of student-athletes on and off the court.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting high-quality tennis practices, training sessions, and individualized development plans
  • Support the development of student-athletes' technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance skills
  • Provide instruction in stroke production, match strategy, footwork, movement efficiency, point construction, and competitive decision-making
  • Assist with tournament preparation including scheduling, match readiness, scouting, post-match review, and performance benchmarking
  • Utilize instructional equipment, video analysis, performance technology, and modern tennis methodologies to enhance athlete development and competitive performance
  • Collaborate with performance staff, athletic trainers, and sports science personnel to support injury prevention, recovery, and long-term athlete development
  • Maintain open, professional communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding performance goals, development plans, academics, and overall campus experience
  • Serve as a mentor and educator by fostering discipline, accountability, leadership, sportsmanship, and life skills development
  • Continuously evaluate the athletic, academic, and emotional development of each student-athlete and collaborate with leadership to ensure appropriate support resources are engaged
  • Assist student-athletes throughout the college placement and recruiting process as needed
  • Collaborate with leadership to regularly review and enhance program structure, training systems, curriculum delivery, and athlete development pathways
  • Support recruiting and retention initiatives for current and prospective student-athletes
  • Assist with operational responsibilities including practice setup, tournament logistics, travel coordination, scheduling, and event support
  • Travel with student-athletes to tournaments, showcases, camps, and recruiting events as needed
  • Assist with tennis camp programming, clinics, and special events
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the instructional equipment, training technologies, and methodologies used within the Academy's tennis programs
  • Adhere to all IMG Academy policies, procedures, safety standards, and governing body regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High standard of proficiency in tennis coaching, training techniques, and athlete development
  • Experience playing, coaching, or managing tennis at the collegiate, academy, club, national, or professional level
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
  • Strong commitment to student-athlete development, welfare, and academic success

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience coaching elite or nationally ranked tennis players
  • Knowledge of tennis performance analytics, video analysis, and player development technology
  • Experience with recruiting and college placement processes
  • Bilingual preferred
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel for tournaments, recruiting events, and team travel
  • Experience working camps, clinics, showcases, and player development programs

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
