Prevention and Recovery Specialist

MAIN FUNCTION:

The Prevention and Recovery Specialist (PRS) is a key member of the Sports Performance Department Staff.ย  Must display a concentrated knowledge of specific training and performance related matters including, but not limited to: sports and human performance, general sports nutrition principles, injury prevention and maintenance, and injury treatment modalities including soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, corrective/functional exercise treatment plans, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, compression, bracing, and taping.ย  Experienced in executing a best-in-class sports performance and recovery program which is inclusive of incorporating cutting-edge science and research alongside proven and effective training techniques and applying it to youth, as well as elite level, athletes to maximize their human potential and performance.ย  The PRS will be skilled in applying best practice knowledge that exceeds professional standards and produces excellent outcomes for their clients.

DEPARTMENT: Sports Performance

REPORTS TO: Sports Performance Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in athletic training, Sports Medicine or related field (exercise physiology, kinesiology, etc.)

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years of strong, progressive experience in sports performance coaching/training
  • Minimum of two years of strong, progressive experience in identifying, treating, and managing activity-related musculoskeletal injuries
  • Certifications such as, but not limited to: NATA- AT, NASM- PES/CES, LMT
  • No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months
  • Pass Background Check
  • Eligible to work in the United States

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience in a clinical setting such as outpatient physical therapy or chiropractic care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed for exemplary customer service; outgoing, friendly, and compassionate
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to function well within business management software systems, customer portals and member apps.
  • Master's Degree in pertinent field of study
  • Licensed Massage Therapist
  • Doctorate Degree in fields such as Physical Therapy or Chiropractic

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

Applied (Programming)

  • Competent in executing a comprehensive and individualized approach to sports and human performance and the associated service offered designed to achieve an optimal performance.
  • Competent executing a comprehensive athlete assessment, inclusive of various biometric recordings, movement analysis, etc., daily.
  • Demonstrates ability to create, execute, and modify a highly advanced and effective training plan (including basic behavioral and/or nutrition plans as needed) based on the assessment findings for general and athletic populations.
  • Able to effectively utilize deep-force, manual soft tissue manipulation work, as indicated, throughout the workday.
  • Perform client body adjustments, including passive/active joint flexibility and mobility exercises.
  • Proficient with a wide range of treatment modalities including, but not limited to: hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, compression, bracing, and taping.
  • Able to routinely apply sound clinical judgement and industry best practice standards while treating clients.
  • Committed to providing high-quality services by maintaining current certifications, attending continuing education seminars, and reviewing industry literature.
  • Proficient with conducting educational presentations and seminars on various sports and human performance related topics.
  • Able to contribute to a culture that promotes a โ€œtribe-mentalityโ€ for members and clients; a warm, welcoming feel that motivates and inspires others to strive towards reaching their highest potential.

Administration (Operations)

  • Creating and storing thorough and accurate records (using appropriate medical terminology) to ensure confidentiality, continuity of client care, and legal compliance.
  • Able to effectively document client assessments, progress, and achievement and professionally communicate with participants, parents and coaches.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Demonstrates competency in managing and administering client scheduling, client contacts, and managing the My Wellness Cloud Portal (or similar).
  • Comply with the centerโ€™s quality assurance practices for all department services to ensure program delivery, as well as the environment, is safe and effective.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all equipment including preventative maintenance, servicing machines and re-upholstering.
  • Oversee and routinely complete the departmentโ€™s daily task check sheet as assigned.

Management (Customer Relations/Team Performance)

  • Contribute to achieving consistently excellent member experience resulting in high member satisfaction ratings.
  • Provides general supervision for clients participating in the facility.ย  Is committed to providing a safe, clean and organized environment and delivers customer service excellence.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely operate and oversee all equipment and services related to the Sports Performance Department or other assigned tasks.
  • Proficient with all current facility policies and procedures and ensures all operations and practices of the department satisfy those policies and procedures.
