About the Role Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation, this is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. Reporting to the Intramural Student Leader (ISL), the Intramural Scorekeeper is a staff responsible for overall game management in conjunction with the officials during intramural matches, assisting in setup and takedown of the sport, recording accurate scores of the games, as well as running the timeclock if applicable. These positions require weekday evening availability.

While primarily located at MRU Recreation, hockey shifts operate at the Flames Community Arena and reliable transportation is required. Sports Areas: Basketball, Futsal/Soccer, or Hockey (can be multiple sports depending on schedule, experience, and interest) Responsibilities Scorekeeping Duties (80%) Lead check-in of intramural participants prior to games Responsible for overall game sheet and roster management, with officials, during intramural games Record fouls, penalties, and scores as communicated by officials Handles disputes and conflict related to rule interpretation or player incidences General Duties (20%) Ensure that the culture of CAR intramurals is one of inclusion, belonging, and respect for all participants and staff members Maintain appropriate and professional demeanor during all intramural games Assist with setup and takedown of intramural facilities Act as Cougars Athletics and Recreation ambassadors by promoting intramurals Communicate with Intramural Student Leaders regarding league issues and concerns Participate in scorekeeper evaluations and develop competencies through development Qualifications Required Skills: Must be willing to work as part of a team Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills Open attitude to working with a diverse population Ability to make quick informed decisions on the spot Some experience with the sport Preferred Skills: Current MRU students are preferred with University Students in general being our next preferred candidates Conflict resolution experience is an asset Any additional Scorekeeping, Officiating, or Coaching certifications or experience is considered an asset Required Certifications Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED (or the ability to obtain certification by first scheduled shift) We offer this internally at a discounted rate Position Perks: Discount on most CAR Programs and Services Complimentary towel and equipment rentals 40% MRU Employee Family Discount on select membership packages Under Armour swag and exclusive online store PD funds available upon application three times a year Bucketlist staff rewards program Development and networking opportunities Salary: $15.45 - $19.44 per hour Closing date: Open until the required number of suitable candidates are found A resume should be submitted in one .pdf document.
