The Designer is responsible and accountable for:
Design custom manufactured products for the indoor sports industry such as basketball backstops, volleyball systems, and divider curtains for the PORTER brand. Use architect specifications as a guide to produce detailed CAD assemblies of equipment layouts and prepare detailed drawings of custom products solutions for production at our factory and installation in the field.

Primary responsibilities
  • Collect and interpret data from architectural plans, customer sketches, and specifications
  • Plan and design custom products using design software and drawing tools
  • Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as safety, appearance, function, serviceability, and production costs/methods
  • Determine ways to strengthen designs or develop new ways to improve designs
  • Communicate with internal and external customers on projects
  • Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or customer revisions
  • Coordinate with and consult other workers on design, layout, or detail components and systems and analyze design problems and advise appropriate course of action
  • Generate BOM to release final design to manufacturing/production
  • Enter, access, and retrieve data from company information system

Skillsets
  • Ability to read and understand architectural plans and specifications
  • Ability to synthesize partial/conflicting information to provide viable solution
  • Ability to produce under pressure of timelines and customer demands
  • Understanding of SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling software
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently to work on multiple projects ensuring all key dates are met while maintaining the highest level of quality
