The Director of Sponsorships manages the entire sponsorship lifecycle, from developing strategic plans and identifying potential partners to negotiating contracts, executing activation, and nurturing sponsor relationships to ensure mutual benefit and drive revenue. Reporting to the VP of Events, this leadership role is responsible for prospecting, proposal development, sales, relationship management, budget oversight, performance tracking, and ensuring sponsor satisfaction. 
Job Responsibilities
 
  • Strategic Development: Create and implement a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to align with organizational objectives and grow revenue  
 
  • Prospecting & Sales: Identify, research, and solicit potential sponsors to secure new partnerships and sponsorship deals
 
  • Proposal & Presentation: Develop compelling sponsorship proposals that deliver demonstratable value to prospective partners
 
  • Negotiation & Contracts: Negotiate sponsorship agreements and contracts, ensuring alignment with legal, brand, and financial requirements
 
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with sponsors and stakeholders, serving as a primary point of contact
 
  • Activation & Execution: Oversee the successful execution of sponsorship benefits, collaborating with internal teams and external resources
 
  • Financial Management: Manage the sponsorship budget, track income, and oversee financial administration, including invoicing and payment
 
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead the Sponsorship team, making key hires to build the team while continuously coaching the team to develop their skills
 
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish tracking mechanisms to monitor program impact and ROI, providing reports and analytics to senior leadership
 
  • Stewardship & Reporting: Provide ongoing support and value to existing sponsors, ensuring their satisfaction and retaining their partnership

Job Qualifications
 
  • 10+ years of sponsorship experience in a relevant industry (e.g., conferences, sports, events, music)
 
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, managing and coaching teams
 
  • Must have the ability to develop and implement effective, long-term sponsorship strategies
 
  • Must have strong persuasive skills for closing deals and negotiating favorable terms
 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presentations and reports are required
 
  • Must be proficient in building and maintaining strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
 
  • Must have the capacity to analyze sponsorship performance, measure ROI, and optimize programs
 
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively is required
 
  • Must possess the ability to manage budgets, track income, and oversee financial aspects of the program
 
  • Must understand the industry, brand, and market needs to align sponsorship with business goals
