Job description

At Dollywood Parks & Resorts, we create memories worth repeating! We are seeking an AEMT who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together while caring deeply about our brand.
We want to work alongside someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. This individual is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while ensuring the success and profitability of our unique offerings. The right AEMT will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
The AEMT's role is to provide treatment for injured and ill Hosts and Guests and conduct Host Safety Screenings and drug testing. All of this will be done in a manner consistent with the mission, values and operating philosophies, and standards of the Dollywood Company.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Treatment of injured or ill Hosts and Guests in emergency and non-emergency situations under The Dollywood Company protocols and procedures
  • Provide patient assessments and determine if a patient can remain on the park or at work with medical treatment provided under The Dollywood Company protocols and procedures
  • Operate golf carts, mini-ambulances, and company vehicles for emergency response or transportation of Hosts and Guests
  • Maintain documentation which includes writing electronic reports according to procedure with accurate, clear, and concise wording and correct spelling
  • Utilize Microsoft Office programs, SID, and the use of templates for writing reports
  • Maintain Park and patient confidentiality, following HIPPA and The Dollywood Company guidelines
  • Utilize positive verbal communication skills with Hosts, Guests, and outside medical service providers
  • Keep the work area clean, stocked, and ready for use at all times
  • Assist in the triage and/or park evacuation as needed
  • Communicate well with patients in a clear and understanding manner
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding all areas of the park including exit gates, back entrances to rides, and inside buildings in the event of an emergency
  • Complete annual training with Ride Operations to be proficient in all ride evacuation procedures
  • Spend ample time on the park interacting with Hosts and Guests, greeting Guests with a smile, and assisting them as needed
  • Conduct Host pre-employment, post-accident, random, and reasonable suspicion drug screens and alcohol tests according to The Dollywood Company procedure
  • Assist in the maintenance of park cleanliness by picking up litter, etc.
  • Assist Safety Management in other duties as assigned to support division goals
  • Position will be required to work at any of the SMC Properties including Dollywood and Dollywood Splash Country

Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
Education and Experience Required:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent, Required
  • Current TN State AEMT License, Required
  • Copies of current certifications are required
  • Three (3) years of field experience as an AEMT, preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to use BLS equipment required
  • Basic computer skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and the ability to learn SID for report writing
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of background screening which includes criminal history and motor vehicle record check

  • Must be productive in a fast-paced environment
  • Must maintain dependable work attendance and flexibility with assigned work schedules including any required overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelines
  • Must be able to utilize effective communication, problem solving, conflict management and interpersonal skills
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Guests and Hosts using approved communication methods
  • Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects ahead of schedule, fostering open communication and mutual support to achieve shared goals
  • Must be able to wear a full body fall protection harness & carry safety equipment to negotiate ride catwalks, lifts, platforms, and other areas necessary to complete ride and building evacuations at heights of up to 250 ft
  • Must be able to tolerate and use chemicals such as cleaning supplies
  • Ability to learn and utilize the online scheduling program required (ShiftPlanning)
  • Able to comprehend instructions and retain information
  • Able to perform duties consistent with creating a safe and secure environment for hosts and guests
  • Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 200 lbs utilizing company's safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job
