PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Speech-Language Pathologistย is responsible forย providing speech and language evaluation and intervention services to students with disabilitiesย in accordance withย Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Services may be delivered in individual, small-group, classroom-based, and/or itinerant settings and may include support related to assistive communication technology.ย
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Provide speech and language evaluations and therapeutic intervention for students with disabilities.
- Develop, implement, andย monitorย IEP goals related to speech, language, and communication.
- Provide individual and group therapy services aligned with student IEPs.
- Participate in CSE/CPSE meetings, annual reviews, and other meetings asย required.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to support communication goals across instructional settings.
- Assistย classroom staff in developing instructional strategies to promote speech, language, and communication development.
- Support theย selection, implementation, and use ofย assistive and augmentative communication (AAC) systems and other communication-related assistive technology, in collaboration with instructional and related service staffย .
- Provide guidance to staff and studentsย regardingย the effective use of communication-related assistive technology, as appropriate.
- Maintainย accurateย andย timelyย documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, service logs, and required reports.
- Completeย Medicaid documentation and billingย in accordance withย district procedures, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and studentsย regardingย speech and language needs and progress.
- Coordinate, asย appropriate, with outside speech, hearing, medical, and assistive technology agencies involved in student services.
- Comply withย all federal, state, and district regulations related to special education, Medicaid reimbursement, and confidentiality
- Perform other professional duties as assigned by Exceptional Children Administration.ย
QUALIFICATIONS:
NYS Speech And Language Disabilities Certificateย and NYS License as Speech-Language Pathologist
Prior experience providing speech-language services to students with disabilities preferredย
