Position Overview
As a Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer at Spectra Logic, you will step into a high-impact technical leadership role shaping the lifecycle, reliability, and long-term strategy of our entire product portfolio. You will serve as the guiding authority for electrical sustaining engineering, driving cutting-edge design improvements, resolving complex hardware challenges, and mentoring a talented engineering team. If you are an expert problem-solver who thrives on optimizing advanced hardware architectures and collaborating across executive and technical teams, this is your opportunity to shine.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Strategy
  • Define Global Standards: Establish and champion the global electrical validation strategy and technical benchmarks across all sustaining engineering initiatives.
  • Optimize Complex Architecture: Ensure electrical designs remain exceptionally robust for long-term support, with a specific focus on high-density server and tape library power architectures.
  • Mastermind Root Cause Analysis: Lead the investigation of high-impact field failures, guiding cross-functional teams toward systemic, permanent resolutions.
  • Oversee Lifecycle & PCBA Design: Drive the overarching lifecycle strategy for all PCBAs, setting world-class standards for Altium design protocols and documentation.
  • Champion Compliance: Lead the global compliance and certification strategy, serving as the primary liaison with external bodies for Safety and EMC.
Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Executive Alignment: Partner directly with executive stakeholders to align electrical engineering activities with broader business, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Shape the Next Generation: Mentor and inspire engineers across all levels, actively guiding the technical direction and professional growth of the team.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Impact: Spearhead major initiatives to improve product reliability, enhance supply chain resilience through proactive BOM management, and lower total cost of ownership.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Proven Technical Expertise: Expert-level command of circuit behavior, signal integrity, power systems, and schematic design, with deep mastery of Altium Designer (or similar top-tier PCBA tools).
  • Leadership Track Record: A recognized technical leader with excellent decision-making capabilities and strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Advanced Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with a passion for diving deep into root-cause engineering challenges.
  • Experience: 10+ years of hardware/electrical engineering experience is highly preferred.
  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Residency: Must reside within commuting distance of our Boulder, CO office. Please note: Relocation assistance is not available; local candidates will be prioritized.
