Specimen accessioning is the process of receiving, labeling, and documenting samples such as blood, tissue, or other biological materials in a laboratory. This step ensures that each specimen is accurately identified and tracked throughout the testing process. Accessioning typically involves verifying patient information, assigning unique identifiers, and entering data into laboratory information systems. Proper specimen accessioning is critical for maintaining sample integrity and ensuring reliable test results.
