Position Responsibilities
  • Actively leads distinct portions of a Project with periodic supervision by Project Leadership. Exhibits initiative, process innovation, problem solving, and decision quality with a high attention to precision and accuracy at a project level.
  • Produces and coordinates the preparation of specifications, narratives, project manual and other written document deliverables in collaboration with Project Teams.
  • Contributes to the development of content of SOM Office Masters specifications database.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of the office Specifications Project Deliverable Schedule and specifications procedures and protocol.
  • Contributes to office initiatives for training and education related to specifications.
  • Contributes to technical research, analysis, innovation and viability of materials, systems and technology.
  • Participates in firm-wide efforts for knowledge sharing on best practices, technical research and content for specification via regularly-scheduled conference calls or meetings with other specification writers of the firm.
  • Participates in the Quality Management System process for assigned projects.
  • When required, confer with clients, consultants, and others during various stages of project development for general conditions and specifications.
  • Effectively communicates internally with project teams and externally with consultants and clients through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
  • Actively collaborates at a project, consultant team, and client team level by critically and constructively evaluating ideas. Contributes to and actively participates within the studio and office.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Inspires and leads others by example, participates in staff mentoring and training, clearly defines team member expectations and responsibilities, empowers others, and delegates where appropriate based on team members' recognized abilities and potential.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a professional degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Architecture license (or close to completion) and CCS or CDT certified preferred; LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques and costs, as well as building material compatibility and characteristics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and Adobe Suite.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Spec Link or other specifications software

Compensation for this role is based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $72,000 to $85,000.
