SouthWest Transit is looking for Guest Services Attendants, Bus Zone Coordinators and Special Event Supervisors to work the 2 weeks of the State Fair and/or the weekends of the Renaissance Festival. The days and hours worked are flexible.
The person in these roles will interact heavily with the passengers and is one of the first representations passengers see of SouthWest Transit. They will answer rider questions regarding the SWT State Fair/Renaissance Festival busing service.
A minimum number of 3 shifts worked during the State Fair is required. However, the preferred minimum number of shifts worked during the State Fair is 5.

The Guest Services Attendant may work as either a Passenger Guide or a Ticket Seller.
  • The Passenger Guide directs passengers to board the bus at the State Fair Grounds and at the SWT stations. The person in this role will interact heavily with the passengers and is one of the first representations passengers see of SouthWest Transit. The Passenger Guide will help with loading and unloading strollers and other mobility devices into the bus storage compartment.
  • The Ticket Seller sells tickets to the public using the Square POS system to take cash or credit card payments. The person in this role will interact heavily with the passengers and is one of the first representations passengers see of SouthWest Transit. The Ticket Seller will answer rider questions regarding the SWT State Fair busing service.
The Bus Zone Coordinator will help communicate with dispatch and serve as the acting Special Event Supervisor whenever the Special Event Supervisor steps away from their post. The person in this role will interact heavily with the passengers and is one of the first representations passengers see of SouthWest Transit. They will also help the Passenger Guide load and unload strollers/mobility devices.
The Special Event Supervisor opens/closes the SWT park and ride facility/fairground area they are stationed at. They communicate with dispatch regarding any bus needs and ensure that operations at their site are running smoothly. The Special Event Supervisor acts as the point of contact for the Bus Zone Coordinators and Guest Services Attendants at their location. The person in this role will interact heavily with the passengers and is one of the first representations passengers see of SouthWest Transit.
*NOTE* The Special Event Supervisor and Bus Zone Coordinator are safety sensitive positions under the Department of Transportation. As such, a person in either of these roles will be subject to any DOT safety sensitive requirements such as a pre-employment drug test.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Passenger Guide ($20/hr):
  • Direct passengers from the parking ramp or fairgrounds to the bus boarding area.
  • Assist passengers with boarding the bus.
  • Load and unload strollers and other mobility devices into the bus storage compartment.
  • Interact with customers and answer questions regarding the SWT State Fair/Renaissance Festival busing service.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of grounds, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ticket Seller ($20/hr):
  • Sell tickets to the public using the Square POS system to take cash or credit card payments.
  • Interact with customers and answer questions regarding the SWT State Fair/Renaissance Festival busing service.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of grounds, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bus Zone Coordinator ($23/hr):
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding any bus needs (i.e., the need of an accessible vehicle)
  • Assist in loading the bus
  • Act as the Special Event Supervisor when they step away from their post
  • Interact with customers and answer questions regarding the SWT State Fair/Renaissance Festival busing service.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of grounds, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Event Supervisor ($25/hr):
  • Open/close the park and ride facility/fairground area at which you are stationed
    1. Ensure sales equipment is setup and operational when opening/stored securely when closing
    2. Ensure all scheduled staff at their location have arrived at their scheduled time
  • Assist in loading the bus
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding any bus needs (i.e., the need of an accessible vehicle)
  • Ensure that operations at your location are running smoothly
  • Act as the point of contact for the Bus Zone Coordinators, Ticket Sellers, and Passenger Guides at your location
  • Interact with customers and answer questions regarding the SWT State Fair/Renaissance Festival busing service.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of grounds, lobbies, and restrooms.
  • Ensure that restrooms are stocked with supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Passenger Guide/Ticket Seller:
  • At least 16 years old or older

Bus Zone Coordinator
  • At least 18 years old or older
Special Event Supervisor
  • At least 18 years old or older
  • 1-2 years' experience with POS or other ticket selling systems
  • 1-2 years' experience in a supervisory role

All Positions
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Interpersonal Skills (i.e., communication skills, empathy, patience, etc.)
  • Ability to have a cheerful disposition and tone when interacting with all kinds of customers
