Job description

Shift Time: Full Time (9am-5:30pm)
Job Summary:
Sterile Processing Tech/SPD Tech position is to provide and maintain care of all surgical linen, instrumentation and supplies including decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, assembly, identification and wrapping in a hospital setting. Responsible for notifying materials manager and SPD Tech Lead of supplies that need to be ordered and then stocking supplies. The Sterile Processing Tech is also responsible for cleaning of decontamination room and sub-sterile room on a daily and weekly basis in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and wrap diagnostic trays with appropriate surgical instruments and supplies for subsequent sterilization.
  • Collect, clean, assemble, and process supplies, instruments, and equipment specific to the IOS in order to provide sterile equipment, supplies and instruments daily for surgical cases at the IOS.
  • Performs required autoclave monitoring procedures, performs daily and monthly record keeping, and maintains logs appropriate to autoclaves.
  • Follows procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks in compliance with OSHA and State regulations
  • Checks and maintains an adequate level of sterile supplies and equipment as required in the IOS.
  • Performs activities following written and/or oral instructions while working with others, and presenting a neat appearance and pleasant manner.
  • Responds in timely manner to requests from any O.R. staff for help with instruments and trays needed for cases.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification is a must
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of one-year experience in sterile processing, orthopaedic a plus.
  • Working knowledge of washer-sterilizer, sonic, steam and gas sterilizers.
  • BLS Certified is a must
