Job description

Summary: The SPD Supervisor supports the CSOR/Sterile Processing Manager in daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department. Supervises assigned SPD personnel and ensures appropriate operational performance of duties within the Sterile Processing Department. Manages and oversees the required safety standards for instrument/equipment sterilization process as defined by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). Ensures that appropriate measures are taken to meet the standards and initiates corrective action if necessary. Performs all functions within the Sterile Processing Department as needed. Supervises the OR Instrument Technicians and the Resource Coordinators, including 24/7 accountability, while ensuring appropriate operational performance of duties with Sterile Processing Department.
 
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent GED. Completion of a Central Service Technician course required.
 
Licensure/Certification: CRCST certification required.
 
Experience: Must have 7-10 years of progressive experience in sterile processing or related healthcare field. Previous leadership and management experience in operational performance preferred. Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
 
Other Qualification: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer technology and various applications. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to analyze operational processes and develop methods to improve efficiency and create a highly effective team environment.
