Overview
Geospatial Database Engineer - Multiple Positions at Junior/Mid/Senior Levels
NV5 Geospatial (NV5G) is actively recruiting qualified and cleared Geospatial Database Engineers to support national security client sites in the Northern Virginia and St. Louis, MO areas. Candidates will work with a broad range of customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements, design enterprise data management strategies, and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle. You will work both independently and as part of project teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities that support customer workflows utilizing ArcGIS web, desktop, and mobile applications. A Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility or an active TS/SCI are required conditions of employment.
Work Environment:
  • Location: St. Louis, MO Area (St. Louis, MO and/or St. Charles, MO)
  • Travel up to 15% of the time

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phase of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment
  • Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization, indexing strategies)
  • Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments
  • Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • US citizenship with Active or Current (within two years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
  • Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and security
  • Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
  • Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments
  • Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
  • One or more industry standard IT certifications (such as Esri, CompTIA, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle

Clearance Requirement:
  • Active/Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
