Senior Engineer – GIS Onboarding you to the Company

Welcoming you to the team

Located in Norway, the team consists of more than 50 highly competent and diverse members. Due to the unique engineering skills of our team, we are able to plan and execute marine and land cable installation projects anywhere in the world. We are able to overcome environmental constraints and client requirements with our unique engineering expertise. This time our team is expanding, so we are looking for a new colleague.

Getting a flying start

To succeed in Marine Installation, you need experience in the energy, maritime, offshore, oil&gas, marine, infrastructure or construction fields. You have experience in geospatial data management, data conversion and construction. You will design the cable routes and build the documentation, administrate, and maintain geodatabases and mosaic datasets. Using ArcGIS Enterprise, you will create and maintain web map applications. You have experience of supporting projects with geographic information from public and company sources. You will act as a GIS expert in projects and introduce GIS training/support in the Installation department.

Your starting point when you join
  • BSc or MSc degree in the area of GIS, Geography, Geomatics, IT, Geospatial, Earth Science
  • More than 5 years of relevant GIS experience
  • As you will work with Esri software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and Extensions, ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Portal) daily, fluency in usage is mandatory.
  • In this role the likelihood of succeeding will increase if you have an interest and knowledge of geospatial presentation and data management.
  • Our fast-paced environment allows us to meet short deadlines and work at high speed.
  • Nexans works in teams based on project execution, so being self-driven and being able to take charge of one's own tasks are of the utmost importance.
  • Fluent in English – oral and written. Norwegian is a plus.
