Elementary Spanish Teacher

Location: Hazel Crest School District 152.5
Position Type: Full-Time
School Year: 20262027
Reports To: Building Principal


Position Overview

Hazel Crest School District 152.5 is seeking a passionate, student-centered Elementary Spanish Teacher dedicated to fostering language acquisition, cultural awareness, and a love of learning among elementary students. The ideal candidate will create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support communication skills while promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction aligned to state and district standards
  • Create lessons that incorporate speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish
  • Foster appreciation and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of all learners
  • Integrate technology and interactive learning strategies into daily instruction
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration to support student success
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events
  • Maintain accurate records, grades, and student data in accordance with district expectations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Spanish, or related field
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Bilingual and/or Spanish fluency required
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and student engagement strategies
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating instructional technology into language instruction
  • Familiarity with MTSS and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Ability to create interactive, hands-on learning experiences for young learners
