Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Grundy Center, IA, requiring 24 months of ED experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and active PALS and TNCC certifications.

Details
  • 6-bed Emergency Department in a hospital setting
  • Treats patients of all ages, including pediatric cases
  • Drip/titration experience required for TNK (tenecteplase), cardiac drips, RSI, insulin, and heparin; propofol used occasionally for moderate sedation
  • Equipment used includes Lucas device, Spacelabs cardiac monitors, Airvo, and Hamilton ventilator
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
  • 36 hours per week
  • Rotating weekend requirement
  • No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
  • Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS can be obtained during onboarding)
  • Minimum 24 months of Emergency Department experience required
  • Must have completed a travel contract within the previous 15 months
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • RSI (rapid sequence intubation) experience required
  • Telemetry interpretation and reading experience required; Spacelabs cardiac monitor experience preferred
  • Drip/titration experience required: TNK, cardiac drips, insulin, and heparin
  • Lucas device experience highly preferred
  • Airvo and Hamilton ventilator experience highly preferred
  • De-escalation certification highly preferred (accepted: CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA); facility is willing to consider candidates who obtain certification during onboarding
  • Driver's license required
Additional Information
  • Candidate must be comfortable serving as the sole RN on shift from 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, working alongside an ED provider and ED clerk/tech; med-surg RNs are available for additional support
  • Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference from within the past 24 months preferred
  • Must cover 1–2 of the following summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day
  • Candidates who have been employed by this health system (as FTE or PRN, including float pool) within the past 12 months are not eligible
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a different pay rate
