About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Boston / within the Spa Department in Boston, Massachusetts, the Spa Therapist position is responsible for providing personal assistance to any guest arriving for their reserved spa treatments. It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will meet and exceed guest expectations by providing efficient and courteous service in accordance with Legendary Quality Experiences. The incumbent will be providing various services and products to the guest and must always be representative of the brand.
The Spa Therapist reports to the Director of Spa and Wellness and Spa Managers and receives instruction from the lead Spa Therapist.
As a Spa Therapist you will responsible for the following duties:
  • To perform treatments on guests while maintaining the guest's comfort at all times.
  • Be on time for appointments and thoroughly review appointments after completing each treatment
  • Keep work area clean and neat at all times.
  • Must follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by Legendary trainers or Therapy trainer.
  • To ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Spa.
  • Ensure the replenishment of all necessary consumables, items, supplies and ensure that all furniture, fixtures and equipment are well maintained and in perfect working condition.
  • Report any breakage, damage & loss to the Spa management and notify concerned Colleague/s concerning the need for repairs/ fix or additions to spa operations.
  • Operate equipment needed for therapist duties and follow procedures for the use of any equipment according to specifications while mindful of safety protocols.
  • Request, collect stock and supplies in accordance with par stock levels for treatment rooms.
  • Maintain all departmental assets and ensure that all items are cleaned, checked out, and returned to the appropriate storage area and/or treatment rooms.
  • Maintain spa knowledge and awareness with ongoing spa promotions and activities to be able to assist when approached by Guests and Residents.
  • Maintain full awareness and adherence of all health and safety/ hygiene control and regulations including chemicals/solutions used at work.
  • Maintain overall health/sanitation, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Anticipate guests' needs to provide exceptional and unique guest experiences in line with MOHG standards.
  • Support the spa team in providing a seamless journey for all spa guests.
  • Showing co-operation and support to all hotel and Residences colleagues.
  • Must attend all training courses as deemed necessary and must adhere to training as set down by the Spa Director.
  • Must have the ability to courteously interact and answer all spa and hotel related questions with guests.
  • Perform all treatments to the highest standards.
  • Stay current with developments, procedures and news through hotel communication channels.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

As a Spa Therapist, we expect from you:
  • Possess and maintain a valid, MA issued massage therapy license with corresponding work experience in a similar position, preferably in a luxury setting.
  • Maintaining a flexible schedule is required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.

Compensation
The rate of pay for this position is $14.81 per hour. There is a 17% commission for each treatment performed, in addition to gratuity paid at the discretion of each Guest.
