Job description

Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider (CRNP/PA) provides comprehensive direct patient care in collaboration with the attending physicians and multidisciplinary team. Role responsibilities include: obtaining comprehensive patient histories and physicals as they relate to the chief complaint(s) including medical screening exams; ordering and performing appropriate diagnostic testing and screening or the said chief complaint(s); interpreting lab and imaging results to accurately diagnose illness followed by determining nest steps for treatment and specialty consultation; and participating in procedural assistance as indicated by the diagnosis. Role responsibilities additionally include health maintenance and promotion, including patient and family education, return precautions, and follow up instructions. The APP will also collaborate with the attending physician for disposition planning to include discharge home, or when indicated, specialty consultation, including admissions. NP/PA also takes part with indirect patient care responsibilities, including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. The NP/PA will be dedicated to ongoing learning and personal professional development to optimize contribution to our patients, colleagues, and the profession of advance practice provides as a whole.
Qualifications
Education required: Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing. Successful completion of a national certification exam for NP or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
License, certification and/or registration: Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners or current Alabama PA license. Approval of the Crestwood Hospital credentialing board. BLS certification required by the end of the orientation period
Additional skills/abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Works well with others in a team environment. Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred
