Job description

Position Title: SENIOR CIVIL/STRUCTURAL DESIGNER
Location: OFFICE
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: TEAM LEAD - DATA CENTER DESIGN
Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for detailed design of civil plans and structures of power generation projects, organizing design documents, and mentoring junior designers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use modeling software to create and revise detailed 3D civil/structural design models and layouts for complex projects for turnkey power generation solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to develop accurate and complete schematics.
  • Perform quality checks on completed schematics to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of schematics and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge related to drafting and modeling software.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support.
  • Assist team with equipment drawings and installation/testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop accurate technical specifications and RFQs.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in design and drafting, preferably with civil/structural systems.
  • 5+ years of industry-related experience or an associate degree in a technical field.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA modeling software packages.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.

Other Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in civil/structural design for power generation, energy infrastructure, chilled water and hydronic systems, or industrial process facilities.
  • Familiar with foundations for heavy rotating equipment (engines, turbines, generators).
  • Experience with the installation, operation, or troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of support structures for piping systems.
  • Ability to take direction from engineering team and work independently to design systems per project design specifications.
  • Experience with mission-critical applications and maintaining system uptime.
  • Knowledge or understanding of applicable codes and standards.
