[About the Role]
Join a dynamic team as a Payroll SOX Control Analyst, where your expertise ensures US payroll processes, systems, and controls align with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance standards. Be a pivotal contributor during our payroll technology transformation, working closely with cross-functional partners in Human Capital Management, Payroll, Finance, and Internal Audit. This contract role offers immediate impact, career-building exposure to enterprise-level compliance, and the possibility of extension beyond the initial 3 months.
[Responsibilities]
- Provide subject-matter expertise to ensure all US payroll operations comply with SOX requirements and internal policies
- Collaborate with Payroll Operations, Finance, and Internal Audit to assess, document, and remediate control effectiveness
- Identify, assess, and document key payroll controls; establish and execute control testing processes
- Develop and maintain audit-ready control narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices
- Recommend and implement remediation plans for control deficiencies; proactively track remediation status
- Provide guidance on payroll system changes, embedding SOX compliance in design
- Assist with risk assessments and update the SOX control framework as needed
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to payroll staff on control responsibilities and documentation standards
- Prepare clear status reports and dashboards for senior leadership and compliance leads
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of payroll operations experience in a US-based organization
- 3+ years of direct SOX testing experience, particularly within Payroll or HRIS
- Proficiency in SAP Employee Central Payroll and strong Excel/Power Query abilities
- Deep understanding of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Proven problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
- Exceptional communication skills to convey complex compliance matters to diverse audiences
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll principles and processes
