Job description

Southwest Solutions Group is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Installation Technician to join our team. As an Installer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining a wide range of Kardex & Spacesaver equipment and machinery for our customers. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-oriented mindset. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We are seeking someone who is energetic, positive, and self-motivated. Location: In Person - 7am to 4pm with lunch

Examples of projects you could be working on include:
  • Installing lockers at law enforcement and professional sports facilities
  • Installing bed lifts at hospitals
  • Installing compact book stack shelving at libraries
  • Installing military ammunition storage at military bases
  • Installing cabinets and casework for laboratories
  • Installing industrial parts storage automation at aircraft manufacturing facilities

Job Responsibilities:
  • Travel to and from job sites in a company-provided pickup truck or cargo van
  • Inspect materials for damage, shortages, quality problems, etc. prior to installation start
  • Load and unload materials at the job site
  • Install, configure, and set up various types of equipment according to client specifications and technical requirements
  • Perform onsite installations and ensure equipment is properly connected, calibrated, and operational.
  • Conduct thorough system testing to verify equipment functionality, identify any issues, and ensure proper performance
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, utilizing technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve problems
  • Maintain a clean installation job site by removing trash and debris daily
  • Work cohesively with a team of technicians to install products and complete projects on schedule
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand project requirements, timelines and deliverables
  • Process expenses monthly through company portal
  • Maintain company vehicle cleanliness and vehicle maintenance through established vendors and processes
  • Other duties as required

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in general trade as an installation technician or general labor.
  • Kardex and Spacesaver installation experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass a Department of Motor Vehicle Check
  • Must pass a background check and drug test due to the secure sites we work on
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10- 20% for out-of-town projects
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and specifications
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, band saws, circular saw etc.
  • Proven ability to maintain a professional image
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Certifications such as OSHA, forklift, scissor lift, CPR/First Aid are a plus.

Job Skills
  • Electrical Schematics:
    • Ability to read electrical schematics accurately and efficiently.
  • Power Circuits:
    • Experience working with power circuits up to 480 VAC, 3-phase systems.
  • DC Control Circuits:
    • Proficiency with DC control circuits with voltages up to 24 VDC.
    • Familiarity with using a multimeter
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs):
    • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley (AB) and Siemens PLCs, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Variable Frequency Drives:
    • Familiarity with variable frequency drives, including setup, configuration, and diagnostics.
  • Metric system:
    • Using metric tools, including tape measures, sockets, wrenches
  • Leveling:
    • The ability to square, plumb, and level various types of equipment.
  • Computer skills:
    • Ability to obtain and change IP addresses.
    • Ability to ping IP addresses in local area connections.
  • Fabrication:
    • Ability to modify and manufacture wood components
    • Ability to cut, grind, and weld metal components
  • Technology:
    • Ability to navigate CRMs and effectively capture important data
